The film opens on a scene of carnage: bodies torn apart, a blood-soaked pastor clutching a rifle and a machete. Then the story goes back to the beginning. Strange things begin to happen: mutilated animals, occult symbols in the woods, a copy of The Satanic Bible found in a cave. The community's paranoia escalates. Dimebag is suspected of falling under Lucrezia's influence. But it is his twin sister Scarlett — silent, watchful, the most apparently devout — who is the true author of everything. Scarlett is obsessed with Lucrezia. She has been performing the rituals herself, trying to summon a demon, convinced this is the way to reach the girl she loves. La paranoia della comunità cresce. When the community breaks into the Smiths' home to perform a forced exorcism on Lucrezia, Dimebag escapes, frees her, and leads her to the cave — where Scarlett is already waiting inside the pentacle. In the chaos, a panicked townsman shoots Scarlett. Her blood lands on the pentacle. The demon she had been summoning materialises. The fanatical mob is slaughtered. Only the pastor — the one adult who had always urged restraint — survives, killing the demon with a rifle and a machete. Lucrezia and Dimebag, the only young survivors, are led away by police. They hold hands.
